SAIC Motor Malaysia has awarded an Apple MacBook Neo to the grand prize winner of its ‘Celebrate National Pride’ campaign, which encouraged Malaysians to test drive the all-electric MG MGS5 EV during the Merdeka and Malaysia Day celebrations.
The campaign ran from 15 August to 30 September 2026, inviting the public to visit MG Motor dealerships, test drive the MGS5 EV, submit a photo and share a creative caption describing their driving experience.
The grand prize presentation was held at MG Motor Glenmarie, where winner Nur Sara ‘Atikah binti Saiful Azlan attended with her family to receive her prize. Another 20 runners-up each received RM50 in Touch ’n Go eWallet credits.
Emory Qi, Managing Director of SAIC Motor Malaysia, said the campaign gave Malaysians an opportunity to experience the MGS5 EV’s comfort, practicality and electric performance firsthand.
“We hope these firsthand experiences will encourage more customers to consider the MGS5 EV as their next family SUV,” he said.
MGS5 EV Owner Highlights Family Practicality
Nur Sara, who owns an MGS5 EV, said the electric SUV offered a suitable balance of space, comfort and safety for her family of five.
She highlighted its size as an advantage for driving and parking in Kuala Lumpur, while noting that the cabin had sufficient space for her three children.
She also praised the physical air-conditioning controls, which allow adjustments without navigating touchscreen menus, and the driver fatigue alerts that provide additional reassurance during longer family journeys.
Qi said the campaign was part of SAIC Motor Malaysia’s efforts to engage customers and recognise its growing community.
MG MGS5 EV Prices, Rebates and Warranty
The MG MGS5 EV is a B-segment electric SUV available in COM and LUX variants, with prices starting at RM103,900.
Its ultra-thin battery layout is designed to maximise cabin space while lowering the vehicle’s centre of gravity. Both variants are rear-wheel-drive and come with seven airbags and the MG Pilot ADAS 2.5 advanced driver assistance suite.
The COM variant has a claimed driving range of 340km while the LUX has a bigger battery to give it a range of 446km.
Warranty coverage comprises seven years or 150,000km for the vehicle and eight years or 180,000km for the battery pack, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.
New buyers can also receive rebates of RM3,000 for the COM variant or RM11,000 for the LUX variant, along with a complimentary home wallbox charger.
