Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza Takes Delivery of Malaysia’s First GWM WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV

Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza has officially taken delivery of Malaysia’s first GWM WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV, marking a notable milestone for Great Wall Motor’s new energy push in the local market.
The handover ceremony took place at GWM USJ, not long after the model’s Malaysian debut at MITEC earlier in January. During the launch event, she was also introduced as the official brand ambassador for the WEY G9, reflecting the model’s positioning as a premium plug-in hybrid MPV designed to support both family life and professional commitments.

Roslan Abdullah, Chief Operating Officer of GWM Malaysia, said the handover highlights the brand’s confidence in the Malaysian market.
“We are honoured to present the WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV to Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza as its first owner and brand ambassador. Her professionalism, refined presence and enduring multi-generational appeal align seamlessly with the WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV’s positioning as a premium new energy MPV. Defined by advanced safety, comfort, sophisticated comfort and intelligent technology, the WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV is designed for discerning drivers who value performance, elegance and confidence with every journey,”
Siti Nurhaliza described receiving the vehicle as a meaningful moment, noting that the MPV aligns with her current lifestyle needs.
“The WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV feels perfectly in tune with my everyday life. Its comfort, spaciousness, and thoughtful design make every journey more relaxed and enjoyable. Whether I’m travelling for work, attending meetings, or spending time with my family, the experience feels smooth, calm, and reassuring. That sense of balance and ease is what I truly value.”

Positioned as a luxury plug-in hybrid MPV, the WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV combines performance, efficiency, and refinement through GWM’s Hi4 intelligent hybrid system. The model also features a spacious three-row cabin layout along with a suite of premium comfort, safety, and convenience features aimed at modern families and professionals.
Since its Malaysian debut, the WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV has reportedly received over 800 bookings within its first week, supported by its competitive positioning and launch price of RM269,800.

With its blend of intelligent hybrid performance, premium comfort, and practical versatility, the model represents GWM’s growing focus on electrified vehicles in Malaysia’s upper-tier MPV segment.

Malaysia’s first WEY G9 owner being a household name certainly puts the spotlight on GWM’s new energy ambitions. Now the real question is whether the strong early bookings will translate into long-term presence in Malaysia’s increasingly competitive luxury MPV space.
