GAC GS3 EMZOOM Refreshed For Malaysia – Minor Design Updates, Same Pricing From RM116,800

WTC Automotif (M) Sdn Bhd (WTCA) has introduced a refreshed version of the GAC GS3 EMZOOM for Malaysia, bringing subtle design updates while keeping its pricing and core mechanical package unchanged.

Positioned as a sporty compact SUV in the sub-RM130k segment, the update focuses largely on visual enhancements rather than mechanical changes.

Minor Design Updates, New Two-Tone Options

The refreshed EMZOOM gains a revised front-end design, featuring a redesigned “Flowing Diamond Star” grille for a sharper, more distinctive look. The Premium R variant also gets a new two-tone exterior finish, reinforcing its sportier positioning.

Four exterior colour options are now available:

• Graphite Grey with Black Roof
• Super Star Silver with Black Roof
• Frost White with Black Roof
• Asphalt Black

The overall design direction remains unchanged — still leaning heavily on sharp lines, a coupe-like silhouette, and a floating roof effect that gives the EMZOOM its distinctive presence in this segment.

1.5L Turbo Powertrain Is Retained

There are no changes under the hood. The EMZOOM continues with its 1.5-litre turbocharged gasoline direct injection engine, producing 177 PS at 5,500 rpm, 270 Nm from 1,400 to 4,500 rpm. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (7WDCT).

Performance figures remain competitive for the segment:

• 0–100 km/h: 8.0 seconds
• Top speed: 190 km/h
• Fuel consumption: 5.9L/100km (NEDC)

Drivers can select between Economy, Comfort, and Sport modes, offering some flexibility between efficiency and responsiveness.

Equipment List Remains

The EMZOOM continues to stand out on equipment, particularly in the Premium R variant.

Key features include:

• Dual-screen digital cockpit (10.25-inch infotainment + 7-inch instrument cluster)
• Wireless Apple CarPlay and smartphone mirroring
• Wireless charger
• Panoramic sunroof
• 360-degree surround view camera
• Hands-free power tailgate

Safety and driver assistance remain comprehensive, with Level 2 ADAS features such as:

• Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
• Lane Keep Assist (LKA)
• Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)
• Traffic Jam Assist (TJA)
• Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR)

The Premium R variant further adds:

• R-Style aero kit
• Switchable sports exhaust
• Full Automatic Parking Assist (FAPA)
• Up to 6 airbags (vs 4 in Exclusive)

Practicality and Everyday Use

Despite its sporty positioning, the EMZOOM remains a practical five-seater SUV.

Key figures include:

• Boot space: 341 litres (expandable to 1,271 litres)
• Fuel tank: 47 litres
• Suspension: MacPherson front, torsion beam rear

The model also qualifies as an Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV), balancing performance with reasonable fuel consumption for daily use.

Pricing and Availability

Pricing remains unchanged:

• GS3 EMZOOM Exclusive: RM116,800
• GS3 EMZOOM Premium R: RM126,800
  (Peninsular Malaysia, on-the-road without insurance)

WTCA is currently offering rebates of up to RM18,500 for a limited time, with monthly instalments starting from RM912.

The EMZOOM is backed by:

• 5-year / 150,000 km vehicle warranty
• 7-year / 180,000 km engine and transmission warranty

The refreshed model will be available at GAC showrooms nationwide, with test drives scheduled from 9 to 10 May.
