LEPAS Debuted Global NEV Line-Up With L6 EV And L4 EV At Auto China 2026

LEPAS, a new energy vehicle (NEV) brand under the Chery Group, made its global debut at Auto China 2026, introducing its electrification strategy alongside two all-electric SUVs – the LEPAS L6 EV and LEPAS L4 EV.

Positioned around the theme “Elegance Moves the World”, the new brand signals Chery’s intent to expand its footprint in the global EV space with a focus that goes beyond hardware and performance, placing emphasis on design, user experience and brand identity.

A New Brand Built Around “Elegance”

LEPAS enters a rapidly evolving NEV market where the conversation is shifting from pure technological competition to overall ownership experience. The brand is built around three core pillars – Leopard Aesthetics, Elegant Technology, and Exquisite Space – aimed at delivering a more refined and premium mobility proposition.

Underpinning this is Chery’s global R&D network and a dedicated LEX intelligent NEV platform, which will support a range of models spanning compact to mid-to-large segments. The brand also highlights advancements in battery, motor and electronic control systems, alongside intelligent cockpit features and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

LEPAS L6 EV: Urban-Focused Electric SUV

Leading the line-up at the show was the LEPAS L6 EV, positioned as a core model for families and urban users with frequent daily driving needs.

The L6 EV adopts a low-slung, wide-body design language inspired by the brand’s “Leopard Aesthetics”, featuring distinctive “Hunting Eye” headlamps that give it a more planted and dynamic stance.

On the technology front, it introduces features such as VPD (Valet Parking Driver), H-NOA (Navigate on Autopilot), Bosch IPB 2.0 (Integrated Power Brake), and a Super AI Agent, aimed at enhancing driving, parking and in-cabin interactions.

Inside, the L6 EV focuses on adaptability, with a cabin designed to adjust to different usage scenarios and lifestyles, positioning the vehicle as an extension of daily living rather than just transport.

LEPAS L4 EV: Lightweight Urban Mobility Option

Alongside it was the LEPAS L4 EV, a smaller fully electric SUV designed for urban mobility.

It features a more expressive design with “Hunting Motion” styling, contrasting colour themes and unique wheel designs to stand out in city environments.

Performance-wise, the L4 EV is powered by a 160 kW electric motor and comes with a multi-link independent rear suspension. It also integrates 21 ADAS functions and connected vehicle technologies to support both urban and highway driving.

The model offers an estimated driving range of around 500 km, paired with fast-charging capability, positioning it as a practical option for both daily commuting and longer journeys.

Expanding Chery’s Global EV Strategy

With the introduction of LEPAS, Chery Group is further diversifying its global NEV portfolio, targeting different customer segments through distinct brand positioning.

The L6 EV and L4 EV represent the first step in this strategy, aimed at delivering a balance between design, technology and everyday usability as the brand begins its international rollout.

CarTok Editor’s Note

Chery launching another sub-brand isn’t the story anymore. What matters is what LEPAS is about to do in Malaysia.

The brand is already on the ground, steadily building its dealer network ahead of an official launch, likely with petrol and electrified models rather than full EVs. That’s a more grounded entry point in a market where EV adoption is still finding its pace.

From its presentation, LEPAS looks to be trying to sell a feeling, instead of a spec sheet. The question is whether that positioning can cut through in Malaysia’s crowded SUV space, where buyers tend to prioritise value, familiarity, and proven ownership experience.
