66 MG Cars Convoy To Langkawi In Northern Malaysia’s Biggest MG Owners’ Gathering

SAIC Motor Malaysia recently supported the largest MG owners’ gathering ever held in Northern Malaysia, with 66 MG vehicles and around 200 participants converging on the holiday island of Langkawi for a weekend of driving, fellowship and activities.
Organised by MG Motor Alor Setar, the gathering brought together owners from across the northern region, highlighting the growing presence of the MG brand outside the Klang Valley.

66 MG Vehicles Take Part
The convoy consisted of:
- 55 MG5 sedans
- 9 MG HS SUVs
- 1 MG4 electric hatchback
- 1 MG Cyberster electric roadster
In total, approximately 200 participants, including family members and friends, joined the event.
Beyond showcasing their vehicles, owners exchanged experiences, shared ownership stories and strengthened friendships within the growing MG community.
MGS5 EV Available For Test Drives
Participants also had the opportunity to test drive the locally assembled MG S5 EV, giving existing owners a chance to experience the brand’s latest electric SUV firsthand.
The activity served as an early introduction to MG’s newest locally assembled model while allowing owners to compare it with their current vehicles.

SAIC Motor Malaysia Encourages Regional Communities
SAIC Motor Malaysia Managing Director Emory Qi welcomed the growing enthusiasm for MG ownership outside the Klang Valley and reaffirmed the company’s support for dealer-led community initiatives.
According to Qi, the Langkawi event represents the largest MG gathering organised in Northern Malaysia to date and reflects the strong camaraderie developing among MG owners. He also expressed hope that similar regional events would eventually lead to a nationwide MG owners’ convention.

CarTok Editor’s Note
More often than not, owners’ clubs are one of a car brand’s biggest long-term assets. Beyond the excitement of buying a new car, they give owners a reason to stay engaged through road trips, gatherings and shared experiences.
A strong owners’ community is an important part of automotive brand building. Regular gatherings help strengthen loyalty, generate authentic word-of-mouth and give prospective buyers confidence that there’s an active community behind the badge.
For MG, this is an encouraging sign as it continues building its presence in Malaysia.
