Proton e.MAS Surpasses 20,000 Sales, Remains Malaysia’s No. 1 xEV Brand

Proton e.MAS has surpassed 20,000 vehicle sales in less than seven months of 2026, cementing its position as Malaysia’s No. 1 electrified vehicle (xEV) brand.
According to PRO-NET, a wholly owned subsidiary of PROTON, the brand commanded 42.6% of Malaysia’s battery electric vehicle (EV) market and 41.8% of the overall xEV market in the first half of 2026, maintaining its leadership in the country’s fast-growing electrified vehicle segment.
Affordable Models Driving Growth
The sales milestone was driven by strong demand across the Proton e.MAS line-up.
The Proton e.MAS 5 was the biggest contributor, accounting for 60.9% of total sales as more Malaysians embraced affordable electric mobility. The Proton e.MAS 7 contributed 15.8%, while the recently introduced Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV made up 23.3%, highlighting growing demand for plug-in hybrids that combine electric driving with long-distance flexibility.
PRO-NET CEO Zhang Qiang said the achievement reflected the confidence Malaysians have placed in the brand.
“Every milestone begins with the trust of our customers. Surpassing 20,000 vehicle sales in less than seven months would not have been possible without the confidence and unwavering support of Malaysians who have chosen Proton e.MAS. On behalf of everyone at PRO-NET, we extend our sincere gratitude to every customer who has placed their trust in us. This achievement belongs as much to them as it does to us.”

Supporting Malaysia’s Low-Carbon Transition
PRO-NET said Proton e.MAS continues to support the government’s Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint (LCMB) and National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) by making electrified vehicles more accessible while expanding the ecosystem needed to support long-term EV adoption.
The company has also continued expanding its dealership and service network, strengthening customer support and collaborating with charging providers to improve charging accessibility nationwide.
More Growth Ahead
Building on its momentum, PRO-NET said it will continue investing in new products, customer experience and ecosystem development to accelerate the adoption of electrified mobility in Malaysia.
The company said it remains committed to delivering innovative vehicles and a comprehensive new energy mobility ecosystem while continuing to earn the trust of Malaysian customers.
CarTok Editor’s Note
Proton e.MAS achieving this milestone is significant not just because of the number, but because it reflects how the brand has been able to establish itself in Malaysia’s electrified vehicle market.
The affordable e.MAS 5 has definitely expanded EV ownership to a wider audience, while the e.MAS 7 PHEV demonstrates that many buyers still value the flexibility of a plug-in hybrid.
The next challenge will be defending its market-leading position as other brands expand their electrified offerings in Malaysia.
