Motul Malaysia Marks 10-Year Partnership Milestone with MR Lubricant

Motul Malaysia, together with MR Lubricant Sdn Bhd, recently celebrated a major milestone, marking 10 years of partnership with an exclusive gala dinner held at Genting Highlands. The black-tie event brought together 85 dealers from across Malaysia’s Northern and East Coast regions, recognising a decade of collaboration with the French lubricant specialist.
From Humble Beginnings to Regional Growth
The partnership, which began in 2016, has grown steadily over the years. MR Lubricant started as an official distributor for Motul Tekma heavy-duty diesel engine oils before expanding into a full-range distributor for passenger car engine oils across key regions.

Reflecting on the journey, Ravi Shankar, General Manager for Motul Malaysia said,
“MR Lubricant’s journey from their humble beginnings as our Official Motul Tekma Heavy Duty Diesel Engine Oil Distributor in 2016 to becoming a comprehensive distributor for our passenger car engine oil range across Northern and East Coast Malaysia has been nothing short of remarkable. Their commitment to excellence, coupled with their passion for motorsports, perfectly embodies the Motul spirit. As we look ahead to their new integrated facility in 2026, we see not just infrastructure expansion, but a testament to sustainable growth built on trust, performance, and shared values.”

Alvin Toh, Co-Founder and Operations Director of MR Lubricant, added,
“This 10-year milestone belongs to every dealer, every team member, and every partner who believed in our vision. When we started, we were small in size but never in ambition. Today, we stand here because of the trust our dealers placed in us and the guidance Motul Malaysia provided throughout our journey.”
Recognising Dealer Network Contributions
The gala also served as a platform to honour dealers who have played a critical role in expanding MR Lubricant’s footprint. Dealer appreciation awards were presented to recognise strong partnerships and consistent performance in delivering quality service to customers.
The evening featured a live band performance, an AI-powered photo booth, and a lucky draw session, rounding off a celebratory night aimed at strengthening relationships within the dealer network.

Motorsport DNA Drives Product Innovation
Beyond the celebrations, Motul used the occasion to highlight its ongoing product innovation, rooted in motorsport experience. The company recently strengthened its collaboration with McLaren Racing, supplying lubricants for both Formula 1 and endurance racing programmes.

Motul’s long-standing involvement in endurance racing — including its association with the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the FIA World Endurance Championship — continues to influence its product development for road cars.
Among the products showcased:
- Motul Eco-Tech 5W30: A 100% synthetic engine oil meeting API SP and ILSAC GF-6A standards, designed for improved fuel efficiency, engine cleanliness, and thermal stability — particularly suited for Malaysia’s stop-start traffic conditions.
- Motul NGEN Hybrid: Engineered for hybrid vehicles, this oil is optimised for frequent start-stop cycles and extended engine-off phases, addressing the unique demands of electrified powertrains.
Expanding Opportunities for Dealers
Motul Malaysia and MR Lubricant are also looking to grow their dealer network across the Northern and East Coast regions. Interested workshops and retailers can tap into MR Lubricant’s established distribution system, which includes product training, marketing support, and access to Motul’s full product portfolio.

CarTok Editor’s Note
Ten years in the lubricant business isn’t just about moving volume — it’s about consistency, trust, and staying relevant as engines evolve. With hybrids becoming more common and efficiency standards tightening, Motul’s push into products like NGEN Hybrid shows it’s not just celebrating the past, but quietly preparing for what Malaysian workshops will need next.
