Royal Enfield Malaysia is celebrating 125 years of Pure Motorcycling by bringing custom motorcycle culture to the recently concluded Art of Speed 2026, headlined by the public debut of OBSIDIAN, a one-off custom chopper based on the Super Meteor 650.
Held at MAEPS Serdang, the event saw Royal Enfield shift the spotlight away from showroom models to craftsmanship and individuality, reinforcing the brand’s reputation as one of the easiest modern motorcycles to customise.
Built by Malaysian custom builder Pa’din Musa of Abah & Sons Vintage Choppers under Royal Enfield’s Custom World programme, OBSIDIAN demonstrates how the Super Meteor 650 can be transformed into a fully functional long-distance chopper while retaining the reliability of its production mechanicals.
Malaysian Craftsmanship Takes Centre Stage
Unlike many custom motorcycles that are created purely for display, OBSIDIAN was designed with long-distance riding in mind.
The philosophy behind the build was simple: create a motorcycle that is narrow, reliable, easy to maintain and capable of covering serious distances.
Almost every visible component was hand-fabricated by Pa’din Musa and his team.
Highlights include:
- Custom narrow front end
- 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels
- Twin-carburettor setup
- Internal throttle
- Foot clutch
- Hand-operated jockey shifter
- Custom sissy bar designed to carry touring luggage
- Integrated taillight with internally routed wiring for a clean finish
Power comes from Royal Enfield’s proven 648cc air/oil-cooled parallel-twin engine, producing 47hp and 52.3Nm of torque, the same engine found in the production Super Meteor 650.
The result is a motorcycle that combines classic American-style chopper aesthetics with modern reliability, making it suitable for real-world riding rather than simply occupying a show stand.
International Custom Inspiration
Royal Enfield also displayed Carolina Reaper, a custom-built Guerrilla 450 created by Tokyo-based builder Toshiyuki Osawa of Cheetah Custom Cycles.
Based on the Guerrilla 450 and powered by Royal Enfield’s 452cc liquid-cooled Sherpa engine producing 40hp and 40Nm, the motorcycle reimagines the roadster as a 1970s-inspired American flat tracker. Unlike OBSIDIAN, Carolina Reaper was built with dirt-track competition in mind, highlighting the versatility of the Guerrilla 450 platform.
More Than Motorcycles
Royal Enfield complemented its custom motorcycle display with live skateboarding demonstrations throughout Art of Speed, bringing together two communities connected by creativity, freedom and self-expression.
Visitors also had the opportunity to explore Royal Enfield’s riding apparel and lifestyle merchandise, while selected motorcycles from the company’s Malaysian line-up were made available for test rides.
Today, Royal Enfield Malaysia’s range includes the Bear 650, Classic 650, Guerrilla 450, Himalayan 450, Shotgun 650, Super Meteor 650, Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, Hunter 350, Meteor 350, Classic 350 and Bullet 350.

In conjunction with Art of Speed 2026, Royal Enfield Malaysia introduced a limited-time ownership package for motorcycles purchased between 1 August and 30 September 30 2026.
The promotion includes:
- Five-year warranty
- Two years of free scheduled servicing

- Complimentary first-year road tax
The package is aimed at giving new owners greater peace of mind while making Royal Enfield ownership more attractive.
