GWM Malaysia has announced several key leadership appointments as the company prepares for its next phase of growth in Malaysia, with a stronger focus on localisation, manufacturing development and long-term business expansion.
The move comes as the Chinese automotive group continues to expand its presence in Malaysia through its portfolio of SUVs, MPVs and electrified vehicles sold under the HAVAL, TANK, ORA and WEY brands.
Under the new leadership structure, Stan Li Hao has been appointed Managing Director, Commercial Operations, while Cui Anqi takes on the role of Managing Director, Corporate Affairs.
The appointments are aimed at strengthening GWM Malaysia’s management team as the company works towards deeper localisation efforts, enhanced manufacturing capabilities and a broader market presence.

Experienced Leadership To Support Growth
Stan Li Hao brings more than 12 years of automotive industry experience across the ASEAN region, with expertise in market development, business strategy and brand growth.
Meanwhile, Cui Anqi has been involved with GWM Malaysia since its early establishment phase and has played a key role in the company’s localisation initiatives, manufacturing development and operational growth in the country.
The leadership team will continue to work alongside GWM Malaysia Chief Operating Officer Roslan Abdullah, whose extensive experience across multiple automotive brands has been instrumental in shaping the company’s direction since its arrival in Malaysia.
Focus On Localisation And Manufacturing
While GWM Malaysia did not provide specific details regarding future manufacturing projects, the company said the strengthened management structure reflects its long-term commitment to Malaysia and its ambition to expand local operations.
The company stated that localisation and manufacturing development remain key priorities as it seeks to build a stronger ecosystem around its Malaysian business. This comes at a time when several automotive brands are increasing local assembly activities in Malaysia as part of wider efforts to improve competitiveness, strengthen supply chains and support government industrialisation objectives.

Expanding Presence In Malaysia
Since establishing its Malaysian operations in 2022, GWM has steadily expanded its product portfolio, introducing models such as the ORA Good Cat, HAVAL H6 HEV and the TANK series to local buyers.
The latest management appointments suggest the company is preparing for a more significant role in the Malaysian automotive landscape, particularly as competition intensifies in the growing electrified vehicle and SUV segments.
As GWM continues to grow its footprint in the country, localisation and manufacturing are likely to become increasingly important pillars of its long-term strategy.
CarTok.my Editor’s Note
Leadership reshuffles happen often and are usually easy to overlook. What stands out here is GWM’s emphasis on localisation and manufacturing rather than simply sales growth, signalling ambitions that extend beyond selling imported vehicles. The scale of that expansion remains unclear, but the direction of travel is becoming increasingly evident.
