Proton e.MAS Expands Condo EV Charging Network to More Than 1,500 Chargers Nationwide

PRO-NET, a wholly owned subsidiary of PROTON Holdings Berhad, has expanded the Proton e.MAS residential charging ecosystem to more than 1,500 charging points in over 500 participating condominiums and high-rise residences nationwide, to make EV ownership more practical for Malaysians living in non-landed properties.
The expanded network addresses one of the biggest challenges facing urban EV adoption — convenient charging access for condominium and apartment residents who may not have the option of installing private home chargers.
As part of the initiative, Proton e.MAS owners can enjoy exclusive residential charging rates from RM0.63 per kWh when using participating condominium chargers through the Proton e.MAS App. The promotional rate is available until 31 December 2026.
Making EV Ownership Easier for High-Rise Residents
According to PRO-NET, the charging network now spans key urban areas including Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang and Johor, while also expanding into Sabah, Sarawak and other major cities across Malaysia.
The company says the growing network is designed to make EV ownership more convenient for residents in high-rise developments, reducing reliance on public charging stations while supporting everyday charging needs closer to home.
Mr. Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET, said the expansion reflects the company’s commitment to making EV ownership accessible regardless of where customers live.
“As more Malaysians transition to sustainable mobility, it is important that electric vehicle charging solutions cater to different living environments, such as those in condominiums or high-rise residences. With charging rates starting from RM0.63/kWh and expanded access nationwide, we are making EV ownership more accessible, practical, and cost-efficient for everyday users.”

Integrated Charging Experience Through One App
The residential charging programme is integrated into the Proton e.MAS App, allowing users to locate available chargers, start charging sessions and complete payments without switching between multiple third-party applications.
To begin charging, users simply need to:
- Open the Proton e.MAS App and access the Charging Map.
- Select the preferred charging station within their residential area.
- Choose the correct charging connector based on the charger label.
- Complete the pre-authorisation process.
- Start and manage the charging session directly through the app.
According to PRO-NET, consolidating charging services into a single platform provides a more seamless ownership experience while reducing dependence on external charging networks.
Lower Running Costs
Beyond convenience, Proton e.MAS says the residential charging programme also offers meaningful savings for owners.
The company estimates that switching from petrol-powered vehicles to EVs can reduce monthly energy costs by more than 30%, with residential charging rates from RM0.63/kWh helping to further improve ownership affordability.
Register Interest for Condo Charging
Residents can check whether their condominium already offers Proton e.MAS charging facilities and register interest for future charging infrastructure through the Proton e.MAS charging platform.

CarTok Editor’s Note
For many urban residents, access to charging at condominiums may be just as important as adding more highway chargers. In day-to-day ownership, convenience could matter more than vehicle range when deciding whether an EV or PHEV can realistically fit into a household’s routine.
As Malaysia’s electrification journey continues, expanding residential charging infrastructure could be one of the most important catalysts for broader EV adoption, particularly in cities where a large share of residents live in apartments and high-rise developments.
