Kia Expands East Malaysia Presence With New 3S Centre In Kuching

Kia Sales Malaysia (KSM) has officially opened the new Kia Kuching Heng Lian Enterprise Bhd 3S dealership, marking another step in its efforts to strengthen its retail and aftersales network in East Malaysia.
Located at Lot 106 & 107, Jalan Abell, Kuching, this new facility provides both vehicle sales and servicing under one roof, while also supporting Kia’s longer-term strategy of building a dealer network capable of serving both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electrified vehicle customers.
KSM President and Chief Executive Officer Hyung Ho Kim said the new dealership would bring Kia closer to customers in East Malaysia while strengthening the brand’s presence in the Malaysian market.
“The opening of the Kia Kuching Heng Lian Enterprise Bhd 3S Dealership is an important step for us. It strengthens Kia’s presence in Malaysia and brings our brand closer to customers in East Malaysia. Together with our dealer partners, we are committed to delivering excellent products, a seamless ownership experience, and the highest standards of customer care.”

RM1.5 Million Investment
Operated in partnership with Heng Lian Enterprise Berhad, the new Kia Kuching 3S Centre represents a RM1.5 million investment by the dealer.
The facility occupies a 4,796 sq. ft. built-up area and features a showroom with capacity for three vehicles. Its service centre has two work bays and is capable of handling up to 260 vehicles per month.
The dealership is equipped with Kia’s latest diagnostic tools, alongside customer amenities including a lounge, complimentary Wi-Fi and a pantry serving beverages and light snacks.
Heng Lian Enterprise Berhad Managing Director Kevin Law said the company intends to leverage its experience in Sarawak’s automotive market to support Kia’s growth in the region.
“We are proud to announce the opening of the Kia Kuching 3S Centre. With over four decades of experience in the automotive industry, Heng Lian aims to deliver the high standards of sales and aftersales service that come with every Kia vehicle. The RM 1.5 million investment in this facility underscores our commitment to supporting Kia’s growth in East Malaysia.”
Established in 1984, Heng Lian Enterprise Berhad is a Sarawak-based automotive group involved in new passenger vehicles, new and used motorcycles, used commercial vehicles and hire-purchase financing.

Kia Malaysia Network Grows To 26 Dealerships
The Kuching outlet brings KSM’s total dealership network to 26 locations nationwide.
For Kia, strengthening the physical network remains particularly important as the brand expands its electrified vehicle ambitions. A broader network gives customers outside major metropolitan areas greater access not only to new vehicles but also to specialised diagnostic and aftersales support.
The Kuching dealership is strategically located within the city’s financial and business district, providing Kia with a stronger retail and service presence in one of Sarawak’s key urban centres.

Kia Records Best-Ever First-Half Global Sales
The Kuching dealership opening comes as Kia reports record global sales for the first half of 2026.
Kia sold 1,630,988 vehicles worldwide between January and June 2026, surpassing its previous first-half record of 1,587,536 units set in 2025.
The company also recorded its highest-ever quarterly sales in the second quarter, delivering 851,639 units, representing a 4.5% year-on-year increase.
Electrified vehicle sales were a major contributor to the growth, with Kia reporting 296,000 retail sales of electrified vehicles, up 60% year-on-year. Electrified vehicles accounted for a record 4% of Kia’s global market share during the first half of 2026.
The figures include Kia’s electrified portfolio comprising hybrid, plug-in hybrid and battery-electric vehicles.
CarTok Editor’s Note
Dealer network expansion is crucial to KSM’s plan to strengthen its footprint in Malaysia.
The opening of this new 3S facility in Kuching addresses the shortage of aftersales support outside of Peninsular Malaysia.
Having a properly equipped 3S facility in Kuching therefore gives Kia a stronger foundation to grow its business in Sarawak, particularly its electrified vehicle range.
Besides the growth in dealerships nationwide, KSM’s challenge is product offering and competitive pricing. A physical presence can bring visitors to the showroom, but ultimately it’s the vehicles that will determine whether they become customers.
