Hyundai Motor Malaysia has officially launched the new Hyundai Stargazer in Malaysia, giving family buyers another seven-seat MPV option with prices starting from RM99,800.
The new Hyundai Stargazer is available in three variants — Style, Prime and X — with the range-topping Stargazer X priced at RM121,800 and offered exclusively as a six-seater with captain seats in the second-row.
Hyundai is positioning the Stargazer as its “WEhicle”, reflecting the company’s focus on a family car that combines flexible seating, practical storage, comfort and driver-assistance technology.
All three variants are imported in completely built-up (CBU) form. Common to them is the 1.5-litre Smartstream G1.5 MPI naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine producing 115 PS at 6,300 rpm and 144 Nm at 4,500 rpm.
The engine is paired with Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) and drives the front wheels.
Hyundai Stargazer Malaysia Price And Variants
The three Hyundai Stargazer variants are priced as follows:

The Stargazer Style uses a 2+3+2 seven-seat layout and comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps with H-signature daytime running lights, an 8-inch multimedia display and a 4.2-inch TFT LCD instrument cluster.
The Stargazer Prime, at RM109,800, adds 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen, six-speaker audio, six airbags and Hyundai SmartSense driver-assistance features.
At the top of the range, the Stargazer X moves to a 2+2+2 seating layout with second-row captain seats. It also gets leatherette seats, 17-inch black gloss alloy wheels, Shift-By-Wire transmission control and a more SUV-inspired exterior treatment, including roof rails.
The X is available in Gravity Gold Matte, which is exclusive to the variant, alongside Titan Gray Metallic, Creamy White Pearl and Midnight Black Pearl.
A Different Approach To MPV Design
Hyundai has deliberately moved the Stargazer away from the conventional MPV appearance, giving the new model a more futuristic design.
The X variant takes this further with sportier front and rear bumpers, bridge-type roof rails, black Hyundai emblems and black gloss alloy wheels.
The Stargazer measures 4,575mm long and 1,780mm wide in Style and Prime guise, while the X stretches to 4,610mm long and 1,820mm wide. All variants share a 2,780mm wheelbase.
Full LED projection headlamps and LED daytime running lights are standard across the range.
Practical Cabin Design
Hyundai’s approach to the Stargazer is not simply about fitting seven people into three rows.
The cabin includes a floating centre console with detachable tray and a cargo floor box with lid, while Prime and X variants get seat-back tables for the second row.
The Style and Prime use 60:40 split-folding second-row seats, while the X’s captain-seat arrangement uses 50:50 split folding.
Multimedia equipment varies according to variant. The Style gets an 8-inch touchscreen and four speakers, while Prime and X receive a 10.25-inch touchscreen and six speakers.
Prime and X variants also get an electronic parking brake with Auto Hold, full automatic climate control and Smart Cruise Control.
Hyundai also highlights roof-mounted rear air-conditioning vents, multiple USB ports and wireless charging among the features designed around family use.
Hyundai SmartSense Safety Technology
One of the bigger differences between the Stargazer variants is safety equipment.
The Style comes with two airbags, while Prime and X get six airbags.
The Prime and X also get Hyundai SmartSense, including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Following Assist, Driver Attention Alert with Leading Vehicle Departure Alert, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Safe Exit Assist and High Beam Assist.
Hyundai also highlights Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go and Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist as part of the more advanced driver-assistance package.
RM4,600 Early Bird Package And 8-Year Warranty
Hyundai Motor Malaysia is also offering an Early Bird Value Package worth RM4,600 during the launch period.
The package includes the RM88 booking fee and eight times or four years of free after-sales service.
Existing Hyundai owners can also receive an additional RM1,000 rebate through the All-Star Reward programme when buying a new Stargazer.
The new Stargazer is covered by Hyundai’s myHyundaiCare warranty for eight years or 160,000km, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.
Hyundai Introduces Stargazer Resale Value Protection
Perhaps more unusual for a new car launch is Hyundai’s introduction of a Resale Value Protection (RVP) Programme for the Stargazer.
Under the programme, customers can upgrade to another Hyundai at a predetermined value of:
- 70% in the third year, up to 60,000km
- 60% in the fourth year, up to 80,000km
- 50% in the fifth year, up to 100,000km
The guaranteed value applies when upgrading to a new Hyundai vehicle and is subject to the programme’s terms and conditions.
For a family MPV buyer, this addresses a consideration that tends to come after the purchase rather than at the showroom: what happens when it is eventually time to change cars.

The Hyundai Stargazer enters a Malaysian MPV market where buyers already have familiar choices, so simply offering seven seats is unlikely to be enough.
Hyundai’s answer is to give buyers several reasons to look beyond the basic MPV formula.
The RM99,800 Style gets the Stargazer into the sub-RM100,000 conversation, while the Prime adds the safety and convenience equipment that many family buyers are likely to care about. The X then changes the proposition altogether with six captain seats and SUV-inspired styling.
Hyundai is also bringing the Stargazer into Malaysia as an imported model, where locally assembled MPVs have a structural advantage.
To boost ease of mind however, Hyundai has introduced the Resale Value Protection programme. While an eight-year warranty addresses ownership confidence, giving buyers a defined upgrade value after three, four or five years tackles the concern of depreciation.
Whether the Stargazer can build a significant following among Malaysian buyers will ultimately depend on the ownership experience, aftersales support and how the market responds to its distinctive styling.
But Hyundai has at least made the new Stargazer more than another seven-seat MPV with a familiar formula.
