PUSPAKOM Hiring 100 New Vehicle Examiners Nationwide As Inspection Demand Grows

PUSPAKOM is set to recruit 100 new Vehicle Examiners (VEs) nationwide this year as part of its efforts to meet growing demand for vehicle inspection services while maintaining road safety and service quality standards across Malaysia.

The expansion comes despite broader economic uncertainties and reflects the company’s confidence in the long-term growth of Malaysia’s automotive and transport sectors.

According to PUSPAKOM, demand for vehicle inspections continues to remain strong, supported by sustained ownership of both commercial and private vehicles, evolving regulatory requirements, and increasing public expectations for efficient service delivery.

The additional workforce is expected to ease waiting times, improve operational resilience during peak periods, and support the introduction of new service initiatives planned for 2026.

Supporting Road Safety Through Workforce Expansion

PUSPAKOM Chief Executive Officer Mahmood Razak Bahman said the recruitment exercise is aimed at strengthening both the company’s operational capabilities and its role in safeguarding road users.

“This recruitment is an investment in people, safety, and service.”

“By welcoming 100 new Vehicle Examiners, we are creating technical jobs for Malaysians while strengthening our core mission: ensuring vehicles on our roads meet stringent safety and environmental standards. In uncertain times, we are choosing to build capability where it matters most,” Mahmood explained.

The new positions will be distributed across the country based on regional demand. Successful candidates will undergo training at PUSPAKOM’s accredited facilities, covering vehicle inspection procedures, regulatory compliance, advanced diagnostic equipment, customer service, and professional ethics.

Besides a competitive salary package that includes EPF contributions and employee benefits, recruits will also have access to structured career development programmes and professional certifications.

“Vehicle and road safety is a shared responsibility. Our examiners are frontline guardians who help keep families, fleets, and other road users safe. Strengthening our workforce ensures faster, more consistent inspections and a better experience for customers, without compromising on standards,” he added.

Latest Trainee Batch Undergoing Practical Training

To support the recruitment drive, PUSPAKOM currently has 23 candidates undergoing its Vehicle Examiner Intensive Programme (VEIP).

Known as Batch 19, the group registered on 26 April 2026 and completed four weeks of classroom-based training before progressing to two weeks of practical On-the-Job Training (OJT) at selected PUSPAKOM branches nationwide.

The trainees are currently undergoing practical training and are expected to graduate once they successfully complete all required assessments.

Candidates are evaluated on technical automotive knowledge, practical inspection skills, professional conduct, integrity, attitude, and their ability to carry out inspection duties according to established standards.

Successful participants from both Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia will be offered full-time positions as Vehicle Examiners upon completing the programme.

Nearly 500 Vehicle Examiners Trained Since 2019

Since the introduction of the VEIP in 2019, nearly 500 Malaysians have successfully completed the programme and have since been deployed across PUSPAKOM’s nationwide network of inspection centres and Mobile Truck Services (MTS).

The programme remains one of the company’s key talent development initiatives, helping ensure a sustainable pipeline of qualified inspection personnel to meet growing service demand.

To encourage participation, PUSPAKOM fully covers all programme-related expenses, including pre-employment medical examinations, flight tickets for trainees from East Malaysia, and a monthly trainee allowance of RM750 throughout the training period.

Weekly Open Interviews Available Nationwide

As part of its ongoing recruitment efforts, PUSPAKOM conducts open interview sessions every Wednesday (business day) at branches nationwide.

Candidates are assessed by representatives from the company’s Talent Acquisition and Operations teams, including Regional Managers, Branch Managers, and Operations Supervisors.

The latest intake, Batch 20, began on 8 June as part of PUSPAKOM’s continuing efforts to develop future vehicle inspection professionals.

Individuals with an automotive background and an interest in the industry are encouraged to attend the weekly interview sessions.

CarTok Editor’s Note

The shortage of skilled personnel in Malaysia’s automotive industry is not a new issue. However, vehicle inspection is a particularly critical area, as shortages among inspection service providers can create bottlenecks across multiple parts of the industry, from commercial transport operations to vehicle ownership transfers and regulatory compliance.

Every vehicle that passes through PUSPAKOM ultimately depends on the judgement, competence and integrity of a trained examiner. As vehicle numbers continue to grow and regulations become more complex, maintaining sufficient inspection capacity will require continued investment in people alongside technology. Because even the most advanced inspection equipment is only as effective as the person operating it.
